LB Winter Update
Our 85th Anniversary!
We are very pleased to
report that 2023 is our firm’s eighty-fifth anniversary! Since
its humble beginning in 1938 as Monroe & Ard,
located on Beaver Street in downtown New York City, representing
Protection & Indemnity (P&I) Clubs and adjusting related
Claims, Lamorte Burns & Co., Inc.
has grown into North America’s leading
correspondent serving all major U.S. ports in matters pertaining
to P&I, H&M and FD&D. It is the only truly nationwide
firm and has correspondents available 24/7/365 and is the point
of First Contact for the majority of the
IG Clubs and international vessel owners and operators in and
around U.S. waters. We’re planning on more 85th
Anniversary news in the months to come, so please stay tuned.
Lamorte – Long Beach
In addition
to heading up our California office in Los Angeles / Long Beach,
Geoff Gill quite literally wrote the book on an increasingly
important aspect of our industry, error management - Maritime Error Management (2011). So much so that it was a panel discussed topic
at the 2022 International Group P&I Correspondent’s
Conference, last September. We are very pleased to offer a
limited number of hardcover books available. Please reach out to
Geoff directly for more information at geoffreyg@lamorte.com
Lamorte – Houston
Captain Bally Duggal, who
heads up our office in Houston, recently received his SIRE 2.0
designation after completing all of the
necessary training and coursework. The program has generated a
lot of buzz in the tanker sector amongst owners, operators, terminals
and clubs and serves as yet another
point of distinction in the quality that our staff delivers.
Capt. Bally has written up a quick read document on the subject
which is available here.
Lamorte – Hull & Machinery
Our company has been
involved in the Hull & Machinery category for many decades,
but it seems that two of our staff in
particular have found a lot of success in their
partnership. John Lenker (Seattle) and
Rewar Diaz (Florida) together have become the go-to solution for
H&M matters, not just in the U.S., but throughout the
Americas by combining their talents. John was a very successful
maritime attorney for many years prior to joining our company and
Rewar – in addition to being an accomplished P&I correspondent
– is a native Spanish speaker. By partnering, they’re covering
all four time zones and able to effectively communicate and
coordinate with all parties involved in sometimes very
complicated and expensive matters.
Feesable & Lamorte
Over the past few years,
the International Group’s preferred external resource for
submitting and communicating invoice-related matters has gone
through some difficult seas. Its most recent iteration has too
proven to have some difficulties and many P&I Clubs now prefer
to have those communications handled directly. As a result, we
have reinforced our Claims team with the addition of Yinet Negrin in our
Ft. Lauderdale office in Florida. She will help facilitate
communications between clients and our correspondents as well as
getting disbursements to our vendors optimized and fast-tracked
for a more efficient process throughout.
New Banking Information
Please be advised that we
have changed our wire transfer instructions, due to a move from
our accounts at Wells Fargo, to JP Morgan Chase. Most clients
have already updated their respective accounting departments and
the related documents and permissions have been handled, but
please let your Correspondent know if you have any questions or
concerns.
